STORIES OF PERMANENCE IN TRANSIENCE

SOMA Space, Makati CITY, Philippines

Unicef and Ateneo de Zamboanga Multimedia Exhibition with works by Ralph Eya and the youth of Masepla transitory site with a follow through homecoming show at the Gallery of the Peninsula and the Archipelago in Mindanao

Transitions can be lasting and temporary, but what happens during transition can permanently change us and our community.

Sugpat: a local term used in the Zamboanga peninsula which generally means connect, join or merge. The exhibit aims to immortalize the fleeting sights of the region and visually transport a whole community in an urban gallery space while highlighting the stories behind the condition of its populace residing in transition. The show is a culmination of Ralph Eya’s artist residency in Ateneo de Zamboanga University. Through performance, Eya intends to present the process of ephemeral displacement and offer an immersive experience of our unifying perspectives of connection, commutuality, and permanence, all in the center of transience.

Sugpat is our story.
