TONGUE IN A _____!

DISTRICT GALLERY, QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES

Artists launch tongue in cheek exhibit calling out President Duterte’s leadership in misogyny and human rights violations. Artist Mideo Cruz leads over 20 artists are launching “Tongue in a _____”, a creatively politically-charged art exhibit directly calling out President Rodrigo R. Duterte for his various misogynist, anti-poor, and anti-people declarations. The exhibit will run from August 18 to September 2. According to Cruz, the exhibition rally is the result of the collective abhorrence felt and experienced by various artists against recent and ongoing political developments. He said that the artists come from various ideological backgrounds, but they are all united against Duterte sentiments. “All the participating artists contributed their respective practices to show unity with the rest of the dissenting Filipino people affronted and displeased by Pres. Duterte’s conduct and performance. Participating artists have also chosen to focus on his misogyny and condemn it. The multi-awarded artist also known for his controversial pieces on various hot button issues said that the art pieces on exhibit are also a critique against what he said was the “anti-intellectualism” trend that Duterte’s followers have begun.
